Which Seychelles Island to Choose
Seychelles is 115 islands, but honeymooners really choose between three.
Mahé is the main island, home to the international airport and the capital, Victoria. It has good beaches like Beau Vallon, but it is the least private of the three. Good for one night on arrival or departure, not the whole trip.
Praslin is quieter and greener, with Anse Lazio regularly named one of the best beaches in the world. It is a 15-minute domestic flight or a 1-hour ferry from Mahé. Most mid-range and luxury resorts sit here.
La Digue has no airport. You reach it by boat from Praslin, about 30 minutes. Ox carts and bicycles replace most cars. Anse Source d’Argent, with its pink granite boulders, is the postcard shot everyone wants. It is small, romantic, and best for two or three nights, not a full week.

Best Time of Year to Combine Kenya and Seychelles
Kenya’s safari calendar and Seychelles’ weather calendar do not perfectly overlap, but there is a strong window.
July through September is the Mara migration season and also dry, sunny weather in Seychelles. This is peak pricing on both ends, so book six to nine months ahead.
Late December to February works well too. The Mara has good general game viewing, calving season is underway in the southern Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, and Seychelles is warm with occasional short showers.
Avoid October and November if possible. It is Seychelles’ wetter shoulder season, and the Mara migration has usually moved back into Tanzania.
How to Get From Kenya to Seychelles
This is where most generic guides go vague, so here is the real routing.
Your safari leg likely starts or ends on a light aircraft from a bush airstrip like Keekorok or Ol Kiombo in the Masai Mara, landing at Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Your international flight to Seychelles departs from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), roughly 30 to 45 minutes away by road depending on traffic. Kenya Airways operates the main direct route between Nairobi and Mahé, with flight time around 3 hours 20 minutes. Frequency shifts by season, so confirm exact days when you book, since Kenya Airways has adjusted this route’s schedule before. If direct flights are not convenient on your dates, connecting through Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines is a reliable backup, though it adds two to three hours.
How Many Days to Allocate
For a two-week trip, we generally suggest 7 to 8 days on safari and 5 to 6 days in Seychelles. That gives you time for at least two safari areas, such as the Masai Mara and Amboseli, plus enough beach time to actually unwind rather than just arrive and leave.
If you only have 10 days total, cut the safari to 5 nights in one location, like the Mara, and keep 4 nights in Seychelles. Do not compress Seychelles below 3 nights. Two of those days will be spent on transfers and settling in.
Cost and Pricing Tiers
Budget tier: Domestic Mahé or Praslin hotels, shared transfers, around USD 200 to 300 per person per night.
Mid-range: Boutique resorts like Le Domaine de La Réserve on Praslin or La Digue Island Lodge, around USD 350 to 550 per person per night.
